The Publisher Podcast Awards held their first ceremony on March 4th 2020 in London. The Awards were founded by the Media Voices Podcast team - Peter Houston, Chris Sutcliffe and myself - to celebrate the work we saw publishers doing with producing their own podcasts as a way to reach new audiences and grow revenue streams.
Despite starting this event from scratch, we attracted over 130 entries from 70+ organisations, far exceeding our expectations. This also enabled us to draw up a shortlist of an exceptional standard, with podcasts from The Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Economist, Immediate Media, Dennis Publishing, The Athletic, The Guardian and more.
We hosted 250 publishing and podcasting professionals on the night. The event was also a commercial success, and has ensured financial stability for Media Voices' work on the podcast and the 2021 Awards, which we are currently planning and expanding.
